It acts by stimulating anaerobic glycolysis which generates adenosine triphosphate under ischemic conditions.At equivalent molar concentrations, both the salt and free forms of a compound exhibit comparable biological activity. Nevertheless, the salt form (Fosfructose trisodium) usually boasts enhanced water solubility and stability.
