A TGF-beta signaling pathway inhibitor that tagets ALK5; inhibits autophosphorylation of ALK5 with an IC50 of 140 nM in vitro and inhibits TGF-beta-induced transcription of PAI-1 (IC50=500 nM) in a cellular assay; increases liver regeneration in TGF-beta-overexpressing mice at 40 mg kg(-1) p.o.
