PWZ-029 is a potent, subtype-selective partial inverse agonist of α5 GABAA receptors with Ki of 30 nM, demonstrates memory enhancing effects in vivo; successfully reverses the 0.3 mg/kg scopolamine-induced deficit in recognition memory at 2 mg/kg dose with no effect on anxiety or muscle tone.
