Proteinases are enzymes that catalyse the breakdown of proteins. Proteinases are involved in many biological functions, including the digestion of ingested proteins, the breakdown of old proteins, and cell signalling.

Hexaflumuron is a chitin synthesis inhibitor used to bait and eliminate termite colonies. Termites are unable to metabolize hexaflumuron and clearance is slow resulting in up to 100% elimination.

Phenothrin, also called sumithrin, is a synthetic pyrethroid that kills adult fleas and ticks. It has also been used to kill head lice in humans.
