DescriptionThe biological activity of Jervine is mediated via its interaction with the 7 passes transmembrane protein Smoothened. Jervine binds with and inhibits smoothened, which is an integral part of the Hedgehog signaling pathways. With smoothened inhibited, the GLI1 transcription cannot be activated and Hedgehog target genes cannot be transcribed.

In VitroJervine (40 μM; 6, 12 and 24 hours) inhibits Akt phosphorylation. Jervine (40 μM; 2 hours) inhibits NF-jB activation decreased COX-2 overexpression and induced apoptosis. Western Blot Analysis Cell Line:HEL and TF1a cells Concentration:40 μM Incubation Time:6, 12 and 24 hours Result:Inhibited Akt phosphorylation.
