Biological Information

  • Product Name
    Beclobrate
  • Note
Research use only, not for human use.
  • Brief Description
Beclobrate (Sgd 24774) is a novel orally available fibric acid derivative that has shown significant lipid and cholesterol-lowering activity in rodents and may be used in the study of primary hyperlipoproteinemia.
  • Description
Beclobrate (Sgd 24774), a Fibric acid derivative, displays remarkable lipid lowering activity in rodents.
  • In Vitro
    ——
  • In Vivo
On the normal diet rats, Beclobrate lowers total plasma cholesterol by 22-33.4% (10-50 mg/kg); the cholesterol reduction occurred mainly in high density lipoproteins (HDL). In addition, Beclobrate administration dramatically increases the activity of the high-affinity receptors for beta-VLDL in isolated liver membranes.

  • p-Cresol

p-Cresol (4-methylphenol) is a partially lipophilic moiety which strongly binds to plasma protein (close to 100%) under normal conditions. p-Cresol is metabolized through conjugation mainly sulphation and glucuronization but removal of the unconjugated p-cresol is at least in part via the urine.
